How does a Monitored Diversion Program work for a 1st time offense in Arizona?

Valerie asked:

My cousin got arrested & released in a day. For Domestic Violence-assault. In the presence of his little kid. He got that charge by forcefully moving his girlfriend. No hit, bruises, etc.

If eligible, he gets the Monitored Diversion Program.

What is this? How does it work? I seen the official link. But does this mean he gets to institutionalized? Or does he go to meetings like AA?

I’ve been researching online, but I don’t get past the legal generic laws.
Please help!

Kevin

It means that he does not have a criminal record, but he will be watched closely in case he is reported again for domestic violence. He may not get away with it if he is arrested next time.
