David asked:

I take a few online courses and my laptop has a built in microphone that just doesn’t cut it. we use web conferencing so I dont want a headset and I dont want to hold a mic up to my face. something under 50 dollars that is either usb or analog and has a decent range. I dont want this microphone in my shot. Any suggestions? Ebay is full of mic’s but idk a acceptable type. Optimistic answers only please.

Get a small table mic in a computer or electronics store. Shouldn’t cost anywhere close to 50 dollars…

And if you’re like me and you like to improvise: I use a mic which I ripped off a hands-free set which was installed in a car and was no longer in use. If you can get a mic like that, that’s the best type to get as it has a very wide range.

logitek makes a nice desktop mic, it plugs into mic and is very good, stereo, and rejects off axis sounds.last 1 i bought was around $20 from wally world.it was good enough for me to use with a sound program to record my acoustic piano.
